The Hosts
Major - major@hoodhype.com
"I've been involved with rap music for about 12 years, and I've been listening to it for as long as I can remember.  I began my music career trying to DJ, but lost interest after seeing how much it took to stay on top of current music.  With dee-jaying out of the picture, I turned to production.  I always had an interest in making music, so I started to experiment with it.  I bought my first production equipment in 1996, and I've been making beats ever since.   I've had moderate success with my production career, but after brainstorming with my friend JMack, I decided to get involved with hip-hop in a different way, which led to my becoming the host for Hoodhype.com .  As a host, my goal is to bring you the hottest unsigned/independent talent out here, offer my insight to help increase hip-hop awareness, and more than anything else provide listeners with an entertaining show. Since I live in Michigan, I have a feel for all types of hip-hop, I respect all types of MC's and like many different production styles. "

JMack - jmack@hoodhype.com
"I first got into hip-hop the day I heard "Buttermilk Biscuits" by Sir Mixalot. I remember thinking 'this has to be the wierdest shit I've ever heard, but I LOVE it". *laughs* Since then, hip-hop has been my home. No matter what mood I'm in, the current situation I'm dealing with, hip-hop was always there. Back 1999, I started an online radio station with a good friend of mine called DigitalLSD, which eventually evolved into online hip-hop e-zine. It was my way to give back and express my love for hip-hop and the music. Eventually, all that changed. Radio started getting diluted, the lyrical content in the music slowly started to disappear, but underground, man underground was a WAYdifferent story. That's when Major and I put our heads together and came up with a way to give back to hip-hop what it has given us for so many years. The response we've recieved from artists and listeners alike has been huge and made the journey worth every second of the hours of work we put in to create the show. "

Review Panel
The Panel - music@hoodhype.com
The review panel consists of five individuals who we work with from different spots in the U.S. (California, Michigan, New York and Georgia). When artists submit their music to us here at HoodHype, the review panel goes over each and every one of the tracks from start to finish and rate it based on production, lyrics, and originality and sound quality. Tracks that get the thumbs up get scheduled on the show. So who are they? We keep that under wraps. Why? This way HoodHype keeps the selection process 100% fair. The on-air personalities don't get heckled and bribed to spin anyone's track and neither do the review staff. So we keep em anonymous.
