Kooley High is still rockin it with another single from their upcoming album Eastern Standard Time. Sounds like it’s turning out to be quite a fresh underground album. I also just found out these guys are going on tour with the undergound group I love to hate most, Tanya Morgan. Congrats to Kooley High, of course I know you guys are passing up Michigan on your tour, so for that reason I’m not posting your tour dates. How you like me now!?

(I think I’m gonna put these guys in the indie spotlight on the site… I like what they’re doing…)
Maaan oh man we got something special today! See that image up there with the portable hard drive? What is that? That’s a 250gig hard Drive we received from a fan of the show (What up Seargant Chucky Bob of the USAF!!) LOADED with a massive music and flix collection. We were so inspired by this dude’s generosity we decided to dedicate a special episode to him and this Hard Drive full of music.
We haven’t touched it yet. We haven’t even looked at it yet! It’s sitting here in it’s box just like you see it in the pic above. We wanted to wait till we could sit down together with all of you guys in the basement and go through it. We’re assuming it’s mostly commercial music, so this is why we’re calling this, “the super secret illegal episode” lol. So later today we’ll spin random tracks off the drive as well as queue up some random, not safe for work, videos/flix Chucky threw in there lol.
So stay tuned, although we don’t have a locked in time, it will definitely be sometime this afternoon after 2pm Eastern. I will make sure we email you before we go LIVE as a reminder. Peep our twitter addresses below if you wanna stay up on it even more instant or watch for the show time on your mobile phone!
Our first show since we got back from CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas and there were absolutely no shortage of good stories for you! We talked about the all white basketball league, finally got everybody’s favorite drunk loner, Playboy Tre back on as well as some calls from some of you guys! Don’t forget you can subscribe for free in iTunes so the show automatically goes to your iPod! Or you can subscribe via Zune Marketplace with your Microsoft Zune! Read the rest of this entry »
This has been making the rounds for a couple of days, and I’d been hearing a lot of negative about Shyne’s verses. After getting a chance to listen a couple times, I gotta agree with people, Shyne sounds like a train wreck on this track. WTF happened to dude? I guess you have to give him a pass being locked down for so long, but a lot of cats come home from their bids spittin fire not sounding worse than ever. I hope this is only temporary, and Shyne can regain his form.

Yeah it’s some of that “style” rap courtesy of Hueston Independent Spit District, but you know what I can’t hate on this. A different sound always sounds good to me. What you think? Check the lead single from H.I.S.D.’s album, The Weakend.

Part of our little network of sites, I’ve mentioned the ScratchVille Podcast a few times here. For those who don’t know, that’s where I’ll place some of my favorite DJ Mixes from time to time, with a few bullshit ones just to keep everyone happy. But I gotta say, this has to be one of my favorites to date.

From Kardy’s upcoming Mr. International. Can’t wait for that. Don’t be scared to check out that International hip-hop. I know it’s scary and you need someone to hold your hand before you take the plunge. Just give it a try and you’ll thank me later. Kardinal Offishall, Adam Tensta and Sway Desafo. Look those dudes up and check out their music. Stop hating on shit outside your country. I know you want to. Stop it.
New joint off Jeezy’s upcoming Trap or Die II mixtape hosted by DJ Drama. I like this cut a lot, reminds me of Jeezy’s sound off the Thug Motivation album. What y’all think about it?

I think Floyd is going to be in for the toughest fight of his life. Shane is bigger than Floyd, has knockout power, and an iron chin. This fight will be much more difficult than the fight with Pacman . I know a lot of people were yapping about Floyd being scared of Manny, but I think this fight should silence all that garbage. I think Floyd can pull it out, but he’s going to have to box the best fight of his career. Spotted over @ smartenupnas.
If you got a chance to listen to the live recording of Episode #105 last Thursday, then you may have already caught this. But for those of you who didn’t let me tell you about a caller that changed 2010 for us.
We were just wrapping up Episode #105 on Thursday, we already cut the feed to Smoothbeats Radio and Major was prepping for our goodbyes and the final rundown when a caller came in last minute. This dude “Lou from Alaska” calls in and explains how he was on Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” and listened to HoodHype Podcast on the boat. What?! You’re on the Behring sea, you could die any second and you’re listening to HoodHype. Yo, if that’s not the hardest shit I’ve ever heard I don’t know what is lol.
So shouts to you Lou and all you other friends of the show who contribute and chill with us, you’ve made 2010 a hell of a year already. It’s friends like you who really motivate us to keep doing what we’ve been doing for the past four years. Thank you! Hoodhype Lou from Alaska by hoodhype
