Don’t buy those albums!
September 11, 2007

Man it's cruel, but Jay Smooth raises an excellent point.  You know, I was totally against the rampant bootlegging of Kanye's album last week.  But looking at it from Jay's perspective, it really is a good look for hip-hop to NOT buy either of their albums.  Maybe it's not so cruel when you think about it. Especially when the artists make the majority of their money from concert seats and t-shirt sales, then again, labels are starting to take that shit away from them too. So anyway check it out, if you already bought the album, return it and then get at me with a scan of your proof of return.  And I will mail you a promo copy of either cd that I got for free from the labels themselves.  Scouts honor (even though I was never a scout, but you get the idea).

Didn't buy em?  Still wanna hear em?  Excellent!  What a great chance for me to test my new theory!!

I call it the "Download the albums for free, no strings attached so we can kill the big record labels....theory"

Let's say theoretically I want to listen to the aformentioned "albums" but do not necessarily want to buy them.  One could speculate that it might be possible to find said albums on these new fangled "internets".  One could also theorize that you may be able to go to a internet webs by the name of www.google.com and type in certain words like "kanye west" along with words "Graduation" and "zshare" to download full copies.  The same theory could possibly apply with the use of words "50 Cent" with "Curtis" and "Zshare".

But this is all just a silly theory and I don't really have any iron clad proof that it actually works.  Maybe you could test the theory for Kanye and 50 (*wink*) yourself and let me know your outcomes?

God this post is gonna get me sooooooo many chicks.  Thanks Jay Smooth!

God damn it! This is exactly how I’ve felt since I heard they were dropping their CDs on the same day. I’ve been biting my tongue online tho cuz I’m not into starting an argument with these quick to bitch, self righteous, self volunteering hip hop police / backpackers and ignan’t mofos that don’t understanding the power of multi-million dollar ad campaigns, over-hyping and marketing in general. Straight up, I hope both albums flop too.

Actually, I’ll take it further than that… I hope rap music (not to be confused with hip hop) stops making money all together so we can start over and all these phony “I’m not a rapper” rappers can find another way to NOT MAKE MONEY!

It’s like Phonte of Lil Brother says “when their ain’t no more money in this hip hop shit emcees gunna be the only ones rapping”.

  • LOL! Theoretically speaking, either album may be found on say some newsgroup or BitTorrent network, but factually speaking only one album will be better than the other… KW!
