One of my favorite aspects of what we do at HoodHype.com is coming across new talent. There is nothing better than discovering a new MC or producer that nobody in your circle is familiar with. It’s like you’ve found hidden treasure and you get to be the person to share it with the world. Sometimes those hidden treasures are only good for a song or two, but there are some artists you stumble upon, and you can immediately tell they have a chance to be special. File Nick Carter Green under the latter. When I first heard “Don’t Wanna Lose”, I knew the dude was onto something. With a distinct voice and delivery, Nick stood out against the slew of indie artists we review on a regular basis. After we featured the song in Episode #138, I was able to touch base with him and check out some of his other material. I quickly discovered my gut instinct was on-point; this kid (19 years old) was putting together a quality project.

Seven weeks later, Nick Carter Green has released the XIX Sampler, which includes 6 tracks (Intro & 5 songs) from his forthcoming album. The sampler is a small yet well-rounded collection of music, which will give unfamiliar listeners a taste of Nick’s versatility, and his diverse choices in production.

I’ve included one of my personal favorites “Inception”, which starts out with a smooth soul-loop that eventually gets chopped to shreds and surrounded by thumping 808. Lyrically, Nick more than holds his own, spitting 3+ minutes of rapid-fire heat.
