Here’s a mini-documentary CurrentTV featuring Guilty Simpson and Black Milk. Guilt and Black took Current on a mini-tour of Detroit, to spots like St. Andrews (and The Shelter), Studio One and The Record Collector. I’m actually surprised and happy that the interviewer for CurrentTV addressed the fact that not too many venues in the D support Detroit hip-hop. Even though they have a dedicated and loyal fanbase along with a SUPER tightly knit hip-hop community, the city’s venues are too concerned about the negativity. They need to stop worrying about the crowds and start opening more of their doors to see how cool the D’s hip-hop scene really is.
It was also funny to hear them speak on 8-mile for a second because I feel everything they’re saying. There is nothing happening on that strip other than Eminem’s hollywood influence. One of these days I should get out the camera and take you all for a virtual ride down 8-mile so you can see what they’re talking about.
Shouts to St. Andrews, Alvin’s, Northern Lights and of course you can’t forget about Oslo
