Last year we went to this event and had an absolutely incredible experience with the people, the vibe and the performances at the show.  Expect nothing less this year, HoodHype will be in the building shooting performances, interviews and photos.  Be sure to follow HoodHype on Twitter/Instagram and Facebook  or follow MOLA1 on Twitter/Instagram to get updates throughout the show!
Come join us at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit, it going to be an incredible show!
All too often, I'll see and hear stories about artists who have been in the "business" for a long time and tend stay below the radar. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. Whichever the case is for The Definition is irrelevant because these guys are easily one of Detroit's best kept secrets.  Made up of a drummer, bass guitarist, a keyboardist, a classically trained electric cellist (yes, thats right) and hard hitter spitter MC front man (Mola1), these guys are known for their crazy shows, that a lot of times, will outperform the acts they open for....
If you're in the metro-Detroit area, you would be crazy to miss this show at the Crofoot in Pontiac with The Definition, Detroit's Paradime and headliner Action Bronson this Friday (5/25). Make sure you support that REAL indie hip-hop and buy some tickets to this show! We'll definitely be in the house too!
After hearing the "Black & Brown" single on Black Milk's Album of the Year last year, like many of you, I couldn't stop playing the song on repeat. Danny Brown seemed to settle right in on a Black Milk production, and it was infectious. So when I heard this collab album Black and Brown was being put together, I was overwhelmed with anticipation. And now after listening to the album, it was for good reason. Like Guru (or Royce Da 5'9") to DJ Premiere, or Eric B to Rakim, or Snoop Dogg to Dr. Dre, it feels like one of Black Milk's purposes for being a producer was to create music for one of Detroit's most prolific MC's (that would be Danny Brown).  It just fits.... perfectly. Although it seems like a very experimental, and sometimes off-in-left-field kind of album, next to Elzhi's Elmatic, this has to be one of the best albums to come out of the D's independent scene this year. Welcome back my dude, I actually lost hope for a while. But now it seems your back!
I was always a HUGE die-hard fan of Tim's production. When I first heard his work on Petey Pablo's "Raise Up" I was immediately trying to find out who did the track. When I did, I bought the "Life From the Bassment" album without hesitation and listened, then listened and listened again. I caught a lot of flack for owning that album. Read the rest of this entry »
It's so funny to see Clive Davis saying he doesn't see how music video's will benefit the music industry.  It's even more funny to think that they thought they would SELL music videos. They knew they were dying 20 years before the mp3 even existed. High-larious.
One of my personal most anticipated albums of 2010 and by the sounds of these cuts, and the features with Elzhi, Danny Brown, Royce and Monica Blaire it's not going to disappoint.  There's going to be an album release party featuring the Will Sessions band in the D this month at St. Andrews, and I'm excited as hell about it. If all works out well, your boys will definitely be in the house.
Personally, this is one of my most anticipated albums this year next to J.Cole's album. Can't wait. September 14th! With any luck we'll be at the album release party, and with even more luck we'll be able to get in and get some footage with the camera, provided @hexmurda doesn't murder all of us.
I wonder if they blurred out the 10 Deep logo on Black Milk's hoodie because of how they did Danny Brown....
To see Dogg Pound, Ice Cube and Jay Electronica all in one show? Man I'd love to cover the Paid Dues show in San Bernadino, CA. Check out the details at Guerilla Union.
Our system was so bad. Because of the timing, I was in on the interview via conference call at my day job, pacing outside in the parking lot in the burbs of Detroit. Major was at his house on some crazy recording setup we came up with in Lansing while Collie Buddz was on tour here in the states I believe conferenced in as well.Â
I still have no clue how we managed to run that interview and somehow make out what this dude was saying while Major was managing the whack ass setup on his end.  And if I'm not mistaken, I think we got cut off at some point and lost the connection. I ended up having to call back into the conference, but luckily we edited all of that out lol.  Hats off to you for dealing with all that Major lol.
So without further ado.... Collie Buddz Interview HoodHype 2007
