Once upon a time the competition for best console basketball game used to be a hotly contested battle between the NBA 2K franchise (Visual Concepts/2K Sports) and NBA Live (EA Sports). Over the last half-decade 2K Sports has separated themselves from the competition, consistently delivering the most realistic hoops experience on the market. That experience was on full-display in last year’s classic NBA 2K11. Last year’s game set the bar so high that I honestly approached 2K12 expecting another good game, but a slight step back from the masterpiece that was 2K11. Read on to find out if 2K12 delivers the goods again this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Nigel Sylvester is probably one of the illest BMX riders of our/your generation right now.   Here's some pretty incredible footage put together by the prolific 13th Witness following Nigel all around New York City streets, bridges, sidewalks, benches, curbs, crosswalks and patios.

Last night we had a chance to chop it up with Floyd Mayweather Sr. and get his candid opinion on his son’s upcoming mega-fight with Shane Mosley. Floyd Sr. was in rare form as he assessed why Shane’s skills won’t be sharp enough to match his son’s when they step into the ring. Floyd Sr. took the time to give us his view on how Floyd Jr. would stand up to some of the all-time great welterweights in boxing history, and you might be surprised to hear some of his predictions. Poppa Mayweather also touched on why his son has been branded the villain by the boxing media, and how good Little Floyd could look today if his daddy was still training him, and his thoughts on a potential Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout. It was a great interview and got us even more hyped to see what pops off when Floyd and Shane collide tomorrow night!

We’d like to give a special shout out to Snoop for sitting in on the interview and providing some great questions.

I think Floyd is going to be in for the toughest fight of his life. Shane is bigger than Floyd, has knockout power, and an iron chin. This fight will be much more difficult than the fight with Pacman . I know a lot of people were yapping about Floyd being scared of Manny, but I think this fight should silence all that garbage. I think Floyd can pull it out, but he's going to have to box the best fight of his career. Spotted over @ smartenupnas.

At the end of the day, I think this fight still goes down. There is too much damn $ at stake for this fight not to happen, and if the fight falls through because Manny doesn't want to give some blood a couple of days before the fight Pacman's rep will be tainted. I think Floyd is just trying to get in Manny's head to screw with his mental before the fight. So far it looks like it's working, we'll see if Manny comes to his senses and agrees to the terms.

Ooooohhhh-Weeee!!! I can't wait for this fight. Floyd was in rare form on HBO's Joe Buck Live. I know Floyd and Marky Mark are cool, but it seemed like Floyd took offense to him admitting that he is indeed a big Pacman fan. I was hoping Mark would get lippy and we might get some real fireworks, but he didn't take the bait. March can't get here soon enough.

Floyd Mayweather
So according to reports, it looks like Floyd is ready to get it crackin with Pacman. I know a lot of people thought Floyd would do all he could to duck Manny, what y'all got to say now?

"The much-anticipated bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is all but set for March 13, a source told Yahoo! Sports.  Mayweather has agreed to terms and promoter Bob Arum is making a trip to Manila, Philippines, to finalize a deal with Pacquiao, the source said." - Kevin Iole, Yahoo Sports

The article goes on to mention the fight was originally slated for May 1st, but had to be moved up due to Pacquiao's decision to run for congress in the Philippines (elections will be held on May 10th).  I know Pac has been able to get away with recording an album, doing movies, etc. leading up to some of his past fights, but if he really wants to have a chance at knocking off Floyd the dude better focus on his #1 job. One thing that wasn't discussed in the article is the dollars. I think this is going to be the Read the rest of this entry »

Most boxing followers no longer considered Roy Jones Jr. a "real" contender, but for those who held out hope that Roy still had something left in the tank this video should erase all that. Note to commentator: Danny Green is no closer to being a legend after this fight than he was before it. Beating a legend who is a shadow of what he used to be does not qualify you to become one. I know this is one of the biggest victories ever for an Australian boxer, but don't overdo it.

If you've been waiting to hear Floyd's take on Pacman's big win you can watch it here. SkySports was able to get 'Money' Mayweather to sit down for an exclusive interview. Some of Floyd's talk is him playing politics, but from what I can tell he sounds like he fully intends on fighting Pac. Before Saturday's fight, I would have agreed with Floyd's line of thinking that he deserves a 60/40 split in his favor. But when you factor in the numbers Pac and Cotto generated, and the fact that Pac was able to dominate, I think this is looking like 50/50.
