We've said it on the show on multiple occasions, SmCity's Indie Life album does represent a lot of what we're about so it's hard for us not to contantly have his music in rotation here at HoodHype. Props to SmCity. Great interview on the show, great show at the DMV showcase, good people.
Sweet baby Jesus. Incredible work by Oddisee. I could never call this is a remix, the way he took this song and sampled and reworked it its pretty incredible. Well done by Oddisee and definitely looking forward to his upcoming releases ODD RENDITIONS on May 15th For Free Download and People Hear What The See exclusively on iTunes June 5 and everywhere else June 12.
I swear to God this song has been changing my life this past week. Hot off ep #158, we just spun this song and SmCity just released the video today. The with him, Oddisee on the beat and verse and one of my favorite emerging artists of the moment Phil Ade' on the track, everything about this song is winning. Check SmCity's free album The Indie Life: Hate, Love & Money over on DJBooth.net. Shouts to Z!
I'm probably going to be a Diamond District slappy for life. Love what these guys do collectively. This single from Oddisee's newRock Creek Park album is no exception to their great track record for putting out outstanding indie hip-hop.
Oddisee is an incredibly talented producer. This dude doesn't have a gimmick, he doesn't waste time working with people he ain't feelin' for a buck. He just makes good music, plain and simple, without fail.....y'know? On a personal note, I can completely identify with what Oddisee is saying in the track... Much MUCH respect to Oddisee.
One of the most underrated indie hip-hop producers of our time, without question. Im a HUGE fan of Oddisee, so it's sad to hear he's done with the Odd Season series, but good to hear he's comin' with new material. With everything from A Rosenberg Oddisee to Odd Summer, this dude has put out some of the hottest music to come out of DC in a while, let alone the indie scene.
Like @Majorhh Says, I'm a "Diamond District Slappy" and you should be too. These guys dropped one of the hottest (one of the few) Boom Bap albums of 2009 which made huge waves across the internet and iTunes. For an independent group with virtually no backing to just drop out of the sky and break out like this is definitely not commonplace in today's fickle, volatile, nitpicky ass marketplace.
Keep your eyes peeled for that "Diamond District Remixes" album coming soon featuring this remix.

Interview with my favorite group (that I know of) out of the DMV featuring one of my favorite producers of 2009. Props to Oddisee, Y.U. and X.O. Huge fan of their music.
Dropped waaaaaaaaaay back in June, I completely missed this free mixtape joint from D.C.'s own X.O. Shouts to Major for the assist, I would have totally missed this had I not seen X.O.'s video for F.R.N.O. So much talent is bubbling right now, this is what motivates us to keep doin' what we do. X.O. is definitely no exception to this rule. Make sure you download this free joint to bump it in the whip and support some more good music. Roll the windows down at the drive through the city so everyone hears that shit too, who cares if it's 30 degrees, you can muscle through it, it's for a good cause! Support real good and good real music!
