I'll try to keep this short, you know that it's really tough for me to do that when I get excited about music.

This morning I sat down and no sooner had I taken a sip of my morning coffee (with Cask & Creme), the homie D said "Yo I just listened to that Tito Lopez freestyle 5 times on YouTube." Talking like I should already know who the hell he's speaking about.  "Tito Lopez?" I asked.  " Sounds like a delicious mexican beer", I thought.   Then he hit me with a link to the above video.

And this, my friends, is the very reason we even started The HoodHype Show five years ago.  There are so many incredible, lyrical, creative and passionate artists out there we rarely hear about unless you catch them in a random video in Dr. Dre's kitchen with Stat Quo.  This guy has a raw God given talent.  This is why I'll never get tired of listening to and supporting independent hip-hop, this is why I'll be doing what I do until I'm six feet under.

So thank you Tito Lopez.   You've just thrown fuel on the proverbial fire cousin. These made-for-radio acts have no idea what's comin.   It's artists like you are going to turn this God forsaken industry on it's head.  Like Dre said at the end, "The voice of the underdog, I like it"

Shouts to Mississippi and keep an eye out for his upcoming album The King's Speech.

Sorry for the delay guys.  Been taking a brief hiatus and some much needed RnR from the world to spend with the family.

So I pop open the laptop, start browsing around and I wasn't greeted with this little gift.   Normally, myself as well with any other music fan would have said "yeah right" to Detox dropping this year.  But the fact that the Doc is now on record, audio and visual confirming it drops this year, he has no choice lol.  Should be pretty interesting considering half of the land of Aftermath's misfit rappers will be appearing on this album.

Very excited to check the album out, and you KNOW this is asking for a "Blend it or Bump it" segment of the show. (Although I doubt the blender will be winding up for this one)

Stay tuned, we'll be dropping Episode #110 of the show to share a great interview with Stat Quo and Detroit's own Danny Brown.

I defy you to try and peel your eyes away from this exclusive footage that was recently released by the folks who did the documentary "Rhythm & Rhymes" back in 1997.   Apparently only a few small clips of this were featured in the movie, but they decided to release the full 30 minute interview followed by some of Dre's most classic videos for all of us hip-hop nerds to revel in and enjoy.

Glad Rae did a video for this joint. This is one of my favorite cuts off OB4CL II. I was actually hoping to hear more of these types of records on the album, but with him no longer being on Aftermath I guess it wasn't in the cards. Either way, Dre broke him off on this one.

Bishop Lamont
Dre gave Bishop a monster beat to work with and Bishop certainly did not let the real hip-hop fans down.  This joint is one of the hardest shits I've heard all damn year.

"Swear you been a renegade, but ni**a please you been afraid go get master his lemonade and stop with all the street charades"

Bishop Lamont ft. XZibit - "Hallelujah"

What up Detroit?!  Okay this joint is not the type of Eminem track I tend to enjoy but you can't help but laugh.  This dude managed to write a song that completely covers damn near the past 5 years of pop culture and completely ravage, rape, murder  and mame each and every name in it.

He's figured out the formula apparently, you know this track is going to be huge on the radio.
Catchy Hook + 5 million celebrity name drops + A dash of "i don't give a fuck" = Billboard Success

Death Row Auction
Death Row is auctioning off all of its remaining merchandise.  Credited for launching many careers and threatening the lives of many, Death Row Records was responsible for launching and spring boarding the careers of some of the hottest artists like 2pac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound which resulted in some of the most timeless rap music of all time  (had to let all the young'ns know).   Look at all this stuff.... it's so random.  Some of it worthless, some of it priceless, some of it is pure comedy.   Liberator "wedge" anyone?  Peep to get all the details on the auctioning of the remaining bits of property from the DeathRow Records headquarters in L.A.  Like my buddy D, I'm eyeballin that NWA Platinum plaque.  Peep even more stuff (like the actual Death Row Electric chair) over here along with excellent commentary on how the whole scene was at the auction.  And a complete slide show including a depiction of Nate Dogg with a black eye and bullet wounds to the head... here.  Suge knight is so classy.

Death Row Auction Death Row Auction Death Row Auction Death Row Auction Death Row Auction

Props to D for the heads up on this one.
