Midwest bracket for the hip-hop fight club this episode. What we thought would be one of our easiest, was actually one of the toughest with the biggest upsets. Make sure you check that out! We also had Bumpy Knuckles & DJ Premier's new album The Kolexxxion on the chopping block for Blend it or Bump it. Download episode 166 free! Read the rest of this entry »
We talk about social media and the new power some of these celebrities have with their following, reviewed Watch The Throne for Blend It or Bump It, we had a gang of audio issues, JMack eats pickled pigs feet after losing a bet with Major and more!
Its Cinco De Mayo!! Lets drink tequila and talk conspiracy theories! All kinds of topics across the board, we got some hood ass margaritas we're making tonight (pause?) and we'll have the lines open and the chat on! Can't wait to get it in today and talk to yall tonight at 7:30!!
We're happy to be back for our first show of 2011! In this ep we talked about Cipha Sounds getting suspended at Hot97, Ghostface's Apollo Kids was on the chopping block for Blend it or bump it, we ran with HoodHype's hip-hop Fight Club for the West Coast (listen in to find out who took the West Coast bracket) and JMack getting the verbal whipping by a rapper on twitter. This and a lot more! Download this ep and listen in!
This episode we announced the HoodHype Fight Club, and made our picks for all four brackets (East, West, South, & Midwest)! We also discussed Quincy Jones tossing Kanye under the bus, broke down our idea of a stereotypical grammy voter, and discussed the OnSmash vs. Fed Govt. situation. As always we crack open the stash box to try out a new brew, and we put Yeezy's Dark Twisted Fantasy up on the chopping block for this episode's Blend it or Bump it!
One of my favorite moments of my entire time at A3C. Rhymefest ended up closing out the show (shouts to Erik Sermon who was at the top of the bill and never showed up). At this point it was already 1:30am, everyone was crowding into the stuffy, hot Red Bull stage area to watch the last performance of the night. We just finished watching Bobby Creekwater and Nesby Phips downstairs and we came up just before Fest took the stage after Mikey Rocks.
I was exhausted. Between the homie KingSoul from KonsoleKingz taking me around to meet all his people, trying to network with everyone I could with the little time I had available and listening to hip-hop blaring out of every single corner of the venue for 12 straight hours, I was hip-hop'd the eff out. Never thought that could happen, but it did.
So when Rhymefest finally came out, I didn't expect him to put on the show he did, especially THAT late. But as you can see, he pulled it off. I bought another beer, enjoyed my supremely sufficient contact high and pressed the record button.
So here's Rhymefest performing "Brand New". After his verse, he cut the music and brought a fan up to run with Kanye's lyrics (LOL @ ole dude dropping the mic) which ended up transforming into a remix which was finished with a crazy freestyle.
I gained a whole new appreciation for Rhymefest after that night. Much respect.
Kanye West, Pusha T, Big Sean, CyHi Da Prince and Common
All these dudes went in hard as hell. I wish they would do more of this on television, but I guess it's not what the masses want. Huge propers to Cyhi Da Prince, Pusha T, Yelawolf, and hell even Big Sean went in. But you cant deny two of the three Detroit MC's had a couple sick lines. Sidenote, what's with everyone going in on Montana Fishburne? That poor girl is never gonna live it down.
Royce Da 5'9": "watch me I'm comin', I got a baby cannon on me that's bigger than the one Mariah got in her stomach"
Kuniva (of D12):"8-million sold yeah I'm in grind mode, I'm the only one that's fly from the No Fly Zone"
Kanye West teamed up with Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are) to create a strange but beautifully shot, 11-minute short film. Originally debuted at the Los Angeless Film Festival in June, this film will be the second time West has worked with Spike Jonze. The first being his work on Kanye's music video for "Flashing Lights".
Hit the jump to enjoy the film in all it's weird, yet interesting glory. If nothing else, you gotta walk away respecting the creativity, talent and the way this film was shot. Much respect.
Looks like this is Jay's lead single beforeBlueprint 3 officially drops. This definitely ain't club friendly, so my hat's off to the dude for going with his gut instead of chasing radio spins. Not sure how I really feel about the track yet. It's solid, but it didn't really grab me on the first go round.
