On our way to Episode #200 of the HoodHype show, we invited MOLA1 to sit in with us as we returned to the basement to discuss everything from how the game would change if certain MC's left the game, MC's who have passed and changed it and much more.
Great topics this week including some great (and not so great) listener feedback, Hot97 vs. Nicki Minaj and Young Money, Lupe Fiasco vs. Pete Rock and Diddy's son's scholarship to UCLA.
Weezy's Jeggings and HoodHype's Road to A3C were the talk of the show among other things like the VMA's the Stash Box and the Lil Wayne's Carter IV was on the chopping block!
Kooley High always delivers. Track four from their laid back, smooth vibin, chill album Eastern Standard Time which you can cop at Fat Beats. I've been a huge fan of these guys for well over three years now and continue to be. Wanna know why? They're consistent, they're talented and they don't do Black and Yellow remixes.
I've been following these dude's for about three years now and they have yet to disappoint me. Here's the first video from their album "EST (Eastern Standard Time)" which I'm hoping to post later today. Kooley High is by far one of the best (and most diverse) underground hip-hop groups out there that are actually good. I appreciate the hell outta the amount of work these guys put in. Something definitely needs to be said for the music that's been coming out of North Carolina, that whole state seems to be on fire lately.
The first single off their upcoming album Eastern Standard Time which drops July 27th. Cop it at their site http://kooleyhigh.com/ I still want one of those cool ass skull t-shirts they sell. North Carolina is definitely making an appearance in 2010. Kooley High - "Ya Times Up"

Kooley High is still rockin it with another single from their upcoming album Eastern Standard Time. Sounds like it's turning out to be quite a fresh underground album. I also just found out these guys are going on tour with the undergound group I love to hate most, Tanya Morgan. Congrats to Kooley High, of course I know you guys are passing up Michigan on your tour, so for that reason I'm not posting your tour dates.  How you like me now!?Â

(I think I'm gonna put these guys in the indie spotlight on the site... I like what they're doing...)
From their upcoming album "Eastern Standard Time". I like these dudes+1 lady.  They have a different sound and if you check their site, they've got a ton of free music, which makes em even cooler (check that Summer Sessions EP).  Beat by UK producer Zee Imports.Â
Wish I could get em send me one of those FRESH t's with the skull on it in 3XL so I could rock it on the show lol.
Kooley High - "My Shadow" [audio:http://www.hoodhype.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Kooley_High_-_My_Shadow.mp3|titles=Kooley_High_-_My_Shadow|titles=Kooley_High - My Shadow] DOWNLOAD
Kooley High is one of the best examples of an indie group getting it on by way of what many will to refer to as work. Not only am I a huge fan of their music, this video and their whole damn hustle, but I've got MAD respect for these dudes because they NEVER stop working. This video is just one small example of that. Not too many artists (mainstream or otherwise) concern themselves with really getting creative like this.
Mad respect and love to Kooley High, love the music and the feeling and I GOTTA get me one of those T's to wear on the live show...
