If this is anything like Black Milk's album release show for his "Album of the Year" you all are in for a hell of a show.  Not to mention Texas' own, A.Dd+ puts on a great show too (saw them at A3c).  We'll be in the house at the Blind Pig (Ann Arbor, MI stop) to get some footage!  Official rundown and tour schedule after the jump. Definitely looking forward to this event.  If you're in or around Detroit, make sure you come through to support a good cause and celebrate the life and music of James J.Dilla Yancey.  We'll be in the house getting some still photos and footage so drop your boys a shout if you see the "H" in the building!

Detroit music has a gritty soul to it that just can't be touched by most other cities.  Shouts to Cold Men Young for dropping a hot one.

Phro, Myself  (JMack) and Matt (aka PhotoMatt aka TDH Photo) will be at the historic St. Andrews Hall in Detroit tonight to bear witness to what proves to be yet another sick freestyle competition.  It'll be real tough for these dudes to be spittin' written given the format of the event (description below).   It's an 8-stop tour with Detroit being stop #7, the final being in Atlanta this year.   Although we aren't allowed to pull any video, peep the rebound in the next couple of days we'll be back with photos and audio interviews in the next episode of the HoodHype Show.  Hit the jump to peep the official RedBull Emsee rundown, footage of last years competition and the official flyer.  See you there! After hearing the "Black & Brown" single on Black Milk's Album of the Year last year, like many of you, I couldn't stop playing the song on repeat.  Danny Brown seemed to settle right in on a Black Milk production, and it was infectious.  So when I heard this collab album Black and Brown was being put together, I was overwhelmed with anticipation.  And now after listening to the album, it was for good reason.  Like Guru (or Royce Da 5'9") to DJ Premiere, or Eric B to Rakim, or Snoop Dogg to Dr. Dre,  it feels like one of Black Milk's purposes for being a producer was to create music for one of Detroit's most prolific MC's (that would be Danny Brown).   It just fits.... perfectly.  Although it seems like a very experimental, and sometimes off-in-left-field kind of album,  next to Elzhi's Elmatic, this has to be one of the best albums to come out of the D's independent scene this year. In part two of Major's interview with Jon Connor he discusses his upcoming release Vinnie Chase: Season 2, one of NYC's hardest working independent MC's Donny Goines steps in to speak a word or two on Connor as well as a brief discussion on the track Jon recorded at Stankonia studios with Joe Scudda and Termanology while in ATL for A3C.  #thatshitcray.

Our first night at A3C Hip-Hop Festival, we caught up with a local cat Jon Connor for an interview to talk about his current project, his upcoming project and MC Breed resolution.  On a side note, I'd like to add that Jon Connor and his entire team are some of the most hard working, energetic, humble cats we've ever spoken to.  Even his manager Mateen Cleaves, former NBA player and college b-ball star, was extremely cool and down to earth.  So big shouts to the entire Blue City Club for being a humble crew out here workin' hard and showing us all what real dedication is all about.

I had a hard time trying to write this post because we're kind of close to this project, not creatively, but more on a personal, empathetic level.  We know these guys personally, and I wanted to write an unbiased post with no slant whatsoever because that's what we try to do here (that's partially a lie).  But that wouldn't be honest to you guys or .KOM. Straight from your boy's home town, Jon Connor pays respect to the late great MC Breed and the F-L-I City, Flint town.  I gotta admit I was surprised to here Connor say "R.I.P. Flint Central".  A quick google search later and I found out it was true, they actually closed my old high school.  Messed up, I learned a LOT of things that public education can't teach you at that school.

UPDATE: We're DEFINITELY going to be discussing a pending lawsuit MC Breed's wife has started against Jon Connor for his use of this song.  Make sure you check out episode #147 of the HoodHype show to catch our discussion on it.
