Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail album officially dropped on today on July 8, 2013 and started what could be the beginning of a complete musical revolution.  What does this have to do with independent hip-hop?

Shot by one of Detroit's very own video genius Gerard Victor for Ro's track on Frank The Butcher & Statik Selektah's “Concepts: Selektions” Mixtape dropping in a couple weeks.  By far my favorite Ro Spit joint to date. I actually thought his flow get eaten up by that beat with his laid back style, but Ro actually ripped the hell out of it. While you wait for the release, cop some kicks at Ro's house Burn Rubber.

Snaggin the production from Wiz Khalifa's "Black & Yellow", and hot off UofM WHOOPIN Connecticut's ass, P.L. got with a list of Michigan MC's (Mae Day, Young Scolla, Ro Spit, Young Nug, Yung GooD, Buzz Burrus, K-Bunz, J Brooks, Hersh Mittens, and SayItAintTone) to represent for the mitten and create an underground U of M theme song.  Pretty sure you're gonna be hearing this joint bumpin' all around campus in Ann Arbor on game days.

Damn this has to be one of the most well put together independent videos out of the D I've seen in a good while.  Make sure you support the boy Ro and his clothing store at BurnRubber.  100% Independent makes all of it 200% fresher.  Peep the Paradime, MizzKorona, Fatt Father and MarvWon cameos

Ro Spit and Monica Blaire's rendition of Jay-Z's and Alicia Keys "Empire State of Mind" where they pay homage to our city Detroit entitled "Renaissance State of Mind". You can download it free from The beat was recreated by producer D-Bit  by sampling The Moments's "Love on a Two Way Street" . Video Shot and Edited by VANDAL visuals 2009.

How this dude D-Bit "recreated" the beat I'm really not sure...

Rospit - Levi Denim
What up Doe?   If you're anywhere around the D's hip-hop scene, it's without question you've heard of the dude Ro Spit.  Ro's put in alot of work on mixtapes and album features over the past few years, myself I just got put up on dude recently (shouts to @six_two).  Anyway, before you judge this track outta the gate, take into consideration that Ro Spit is half owner of one of Detroit's hottest hip-hop boutique shops called "Burn Rubber".  Knowing that, take a listen to the track "Levi Denim" below and pay attention to what the dude is doing.  Genius marketing / pitch tactic if you ask me.

Make sure you check Ro's site over at and check some footage of his performance at the HexMurda benefit last month.

I've mentioned dudes over at Burn Rubber a few times, so it's no question I'm a huge fan of the shop.  If you haven't peeped em, check their site at
