HoodHype for LISTENERS
What is a PodCast?
A podcast is simply a web feed of audio files that is placed on the Internet for anyone to download. You can download the files directly from the website, just as as you would normally do; however, special programs called podcatchers can also let you subscribe to the show so you can automatically download and store the media files for later playback.

HoodHype for ARTISTS
How much does it cost to be featured on Hoodhype.com?
Getting featured costs nothing. Hoodhype.com is 100% free. In fact, later this year, artists that have been selected can expect to get even more exposure and benefits than just a spin on the hoodhype.com show.
That sounds too good to be true, why are you featuring unsigned/independent talent?
Hoodhype.com was started to give listeners an alternative to today's urban radio programming and to give talented artists an outlet to share their music. We feel the music featured on Hoodhype.com is high quality and deserves to be heard by a larger audience.
What happens to my music after I submit it?
Once your song is submitted, our 5 person panel reviews it. Once tracks are approved, artists are notified and the track will go on to be featured in an upcoming episode. Each review panel scores a track based on lyrical content, production and the overall quality of the track (amongst other things). Some of the tracks that are not approved will still get played in the Hoodhype.com submission show.
How about I just slip HoodHype or "Major" a cool $200.00 to spin my track?
If that’s how you handle yourself, then you probably want to take your music to your local radio station and their DJ’s. We are sure they would be more than happy to spin your music for money. Unfortunately, we don’t do it that way. HoodHype is geared toward bringing real underground music to the listeners based on talent and quality, not by whoever has the most cash to offer. In fact, attempting bribery will probably ensure that you never get a spin on the HoodHype show. So if you want to be featured, come with your best music. If you have what it takes and we are feelin’ it, rest assured, it’s gonna get played.
When I submit my track, do I lose my rights to my music?
Absolutely not. The music always belongs to the artist(s). The only thing we do is feature your material; we in no way assume ownership of the song(s).
Does my music have to be edited for language?
No, it doesn't have to be. That's the beauty of the internet.
What audio format can I submit?
Although we would prefer that all submitted files be in .mp3 format via our submission area, you can submit your music in any format you have available to you. If you do not have your music in a digital format (such as Windows Media, Real Audio, Quicktime or MP3) you can also mail your demos to us via postal mail to the address shown in the submission area.
Does my material have to be mastered?
This really up to the artist. Obviously, having your material mastered ads to the overall quality of the track. Keep in mind that thousands of listeners will hear your song, so you want them to hear your best work. However, we have featured some songs that were not mastered, but were at least very well-mixed. |
